Positive & Prepared Childbirth Classes

There’s no substitute for hands-on practice and the wisdom gained by interaction with instructors who have valuable experience and advice. Most class participants find that attending a childbirth preparation class helps to reduce their fears and concerns as they learn more about what to expect, and thus have less fear and tension.

The Positive & Prepared Childbirth Class is a weekend class designed to give expectant couples the confidence, knowledge and skills necessary for a safe and satisfying family-centered birth experience. The class offers birth education as well and hands-on practice of relaxation, breathing, and coping techniques for labor and birth. Partners will learn how to best comfort and support a laboring woman and moms will learn to utilize their own unique coping skills. This class has a fee and requires registration. Doula Services

What is a doula?

A doula is a person who attends the birthing family before, during, and just after the birth of the baby. The doula is trained to deliver emotional, physical and informational support. Continuous support from a trained doula has shown to improve maternal and fetal outcomes. Read more information about the benefits of a doula here.

As a doula I serve as a labor coach and information source to give the mother and her partner the added comfort of additional support throughout the entire labor. I encourage and promote self-advocacy and informed choice. My full doula package typically includes two prenatal visits, labor, delivery and one to two hours postpartum and two postpartum meetings.

"You don’t have to be extraordinary in any way except in your trust of the process of life and birth, and your willingness to accept the process — with all the good, bad, messy, moaning, pushing, exhaustion that brings your child into the world."  -Suchada (www.mamaeve.com)
